Unlike Diablo 3's Wizard, the Sorceress is far more focused on elemental magic, so expect flashy displays of the elements and pure arcane shenanigans. In addition to offering granular skill customization, the Arsenal system also grants bonuses depending on which weapon you're using, which increase as your Barbarian spends more time using that weapon type.įor the traditional elemental spellcasters, there's the Sorceress class who can hurl lightning, ice, and fire at enemies from afar, with matching elemental specialization options. Barbarians have access to an "Arsenal" mechanic, allowing them to assign their individual skills to use specific weapons from their four melee weapon slots. The Barbarians are back with their massive strength and piles of weaponry. They also have some beast companion options in summonable wolves and ravens. That isn't the case for Diablo IV and all versions will be online-only.ĭiablo IV is confirmed as releasing on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, but we don't know when it will arrive yet.
For Diablo III the online requirement was limited to the PC version while console versions could play offline. There is one key difference between Diablo III and IV in terms of online play, though. With that in mind, why mess with the formula for Diablo IV? Diablo III turned out to be a huge success, selling tens of millions of copies. Blizzard was more concerned about preventing hacks, bots and duplicated items, so enforcing an online connection to play went a long way towards preventing such game-breaking headaches. The decision was taken for a range of reasons, with piracy only being a small part of the problem. When the games was first released in 2012 the inevitable question was asked as to why it was online only. For players of Diablo III, this is just more of the same.
